The Oklahoma City Dodgers are champions of the Pacific Coast League.
The Dodgers claimed the title with a 5-2 win over the Round Rock Express at Bricktown Ballpark on Wednesday night.
The Triple A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers will head to Las Vegas for the Triple A National Championship game against either Norfolk or Durham. The Tides evened their series against the Bulls Wednesday night 7-2. That series will be decided Thursday night.
The Dodgers won Game 2 of this best-of-three series on the strength of two home runs -- a 2-run homer by Jonny Deluca in the second inning and a 3-run line-drive homer by Michael Busch in the fifth.
Oklahoma City pitcher Gavin Stone threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits. More impressively, he worked out of quite the jam in the first inning, bases loaded and nobody out.
For OKC, this was the first minor league baseball title since 1996, when the Oklahoma City 89ers won the American Association title as an affiliate of the Texas Rangers. For the Los Angeles Dodgers, this title was its first Triple A affiliate title since the Albuquerque Dukes won it all in 1994.
