The Oklahoma City Thunder is in the midst of a six-game home stand. One good, and one not-so-good so far in this current homestretch. The Thunder will play the Pelicans tonight it is a nationally televised game on ESPN, which is why the game was gonna start at 6:30 instead of the normal seven o'clock tip-off time.
The last time these two teams met, Oklahoma City knocked them out in the playing tournament down in the Big Easy. Both teams feel like they have a chance to make the playoffs this year after watching last year from the sidelines. Oklahoma City is 3 and 1 entering the game. The other night the Thunder kept their distance from a potential Pistons comeback. Josh Giddey made sure of that scoring 13 points in about a six-minute span to open up the fourth quarter. Josh ended up with 21 points in the first quarter.
“I thought it was pretty even for the most part and we just wanted to kind of put the game to bed and I mean I just had to offer myself. I put an emphasis on just getting down the hill and trying to put pressure on the defense… so [I] kind of make the right read, but I'm just trying to be more aggressive. I think I was pretty, you know assertive in that first three quarters. I think I set off a lot of floaters but just try to put my head down,” said Giddey.
The Pelicans are coming off a home court last Monday night to the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City must take advantage of the home court games. They have a good chance to win at least four out of the six before they hit the road again next week. Former number one pick Zion Williamson will make a rare appearance tonight at Paycom Center in the matchup against Zion coming up at six o'clock.
