Javian McCollum scored 19 points and Otega Oweh added 18 as the Oklahoma Sooners beat Central Michigan 89-59 Monday night from Lloyd Noble Center.
The Sooners open the season 1-0 with ease over the outmanned Chippewas. CMU stuck with Oklahoma early in the game, taking a 12-10 lead with 13:31 in the first half. Coach Porter Moser's Sooners then went on a 13-0 run to take a 23-12 lead that they would never relinquish.
A Milos Uzan three-pointer gave Oklahoma a 35-16 lead with 3:28 to play before the break. The Sooners would take a 40-21 lead into the locker room.
Central Michigan cut the OU lead to 42-27 with an Aidan Rubio jumper at the 18:07 mark of the second half and 58-45 at the 9:21 mark, but that's as close as it got for Tony Barbee's club.
Anthony Pritchard, from Tulsa, led CMU with 11 points.
