19-Year-Old Wagoner County Volunteer In Critical Condition After Truck Accident

A Wagoner County emergency management volunteer is in critical condition after he was thrown from his truck during a crash near Inola over the weekend. People who know 19-year-old Cage Stidham say he is a fighter who cares deeply about helping people.

“He’s a very active volunteer,” said Matt Rose, Wagoner County Emergency Management spokesperson. “He’s been deployed down to the Shawnee tornado and the Idabel tornado here recently.”

Rose says Stidham is one of the younger volunteers. He describes him as outgoing and says Stidham has never met a stranger.

“He just completely lights up the room,” said Rose. “He’s always cracking a joke. To kind of lift the spirits and lift the room.”

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Stidham was traveling down a rural Rogers County road when he went off the roadway and overcorrected. Troopers say that caused his truck to flip, which ejected him from the vehicle.

Stidham was not wearing a seatbelt and had to be life-flighted to a Tulsa hospital, according to OHP. The emergency management office says Cage has three broken ribs, a broken shoulder, and a fractured pelvis.

Rose says a lot of people have reached out.

“The outpouring of love and support has just been amazing,” said Rose.

Rose is asking for prayers as Stidham remains in the hospital in critical condition, surrounded by his family.
