An animal hospital in Warr Acres says it is overwhelmed with stray dogs that have been hit by cars.
A veterinarian has created an angel fund to pay for the dog's care but due to the high need that fund is in the negatives. Woodlake Animal Hospital says they’ve taken in five dogs hit by cars and severely injured just this month. The hospital says it costs two to four thousand dollars per dog and that’s why they desperately need help.
“We’re drowning in broken animals and limited funds,” said Veterinarian Misty Wilson.
Woodlake Animal Hospital says the calls for help are rapidly increasing with animals coming in fractured and helpless.
“To say no to an animal is something I don't want to do,” said Wilson.
Reba the dog was found in Seminole lying in the road for four to five days. She’s had surgery on both legs and is now in rehab.
“Reba is doing great. Every day she gets better and better,” said Wilson.
Goldie is another injured dog at Woodlake Goldie. She was found on the side of the road in Goldsby with a broken jaw in three places. Dogs like these two can be treated thanks to Wilson’s angel fund which is constantly being used.
“We’re definitely negative thousands at this point,” said Wilson
With calls for help daily and no funds, Wilson says she can’t take them all. The animal hospital said donating is amazing but simply supporting your local shelters or rescues through adoption or fostering goes a long way. If you would like to donate, CLICK HERE
