Tulsa Police Search For Driver Who Hit, Killed Man On Bicycle

One person is dead after a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist in Tulsa Tuesday night, according to police.

Police said they are now searching for the driver who hit and killed a man who was riding a bike.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday near 41st Street North and Peoria, police said.

Two Tulsa County deputies were on patrol in the area and happened to drive by the scene, around the same time as people started calling 911, police said.

When authorities arrived, they said they found a man dead next to a bicycle. Investigators say they have been able to identify the victim but aren't releasing his name until they finish notifying his family members.

Investigators spent most of the evening and into the overnight hours working the scene, but it is back open for traffic Wednesday morning.

Another man riding a bike was killed in a hit and run exactly a month ago, not far away, near Pine and Yale, and police are still looking for that driver as well.

Police said they are facing some challenges as they investigate this deadly hit and run.

"We only had one witness that I can tell so far. And again it happened so fast, it takes time for us to get here and piece together what happened. So just the time lapse from when this occurred, to piecing the investigation together and moving forward from there," said Captain Andrew Mackenzie with Tulsa Police.

Police have not released any information yet about a vehicle description. They are asking the public to come forward if you know anything about this incident.
