Thanksgiving is just one day away and Iron Gate Tulsa is continuing to meet the needs of many here in Green Country.
Iron Gate Tulsa has been making a difference for weeks ahead of Thanksgiving. By the end, the organization expects to give out food to more than 1,700 families.
The nonprofit caters to people in need through its soup kitchen and pantry services.
Iron Gate Tulsa partnered with Lawyers Fighting Hunger to help give out about 1,000 turkeys.
It's also received a $175,000 grant to help with its pantry. This has allowed it to give out even more turkeys this year, which is helping fill a big need.
"Overall, our pantry program has seen a 43 percent increase. So we have not reached the peak of pantry yet between post COVID, inflation, etcetera. So we are seeing the need is there," said Carrie Henderson, Executive Director of Iron Gate Tulsa.
The organization's final Thanksgiving distribution of turkeys is Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
