A local doctor's office that lets employees pool money each week in exchange for Casual Fridays at work uses the funds to do something good.
The latest donation went to a classroom at Council Oak Elementary.
It was a normal day in Betty Foshee's third-grade class, but students were about to receive an early Christmas gift.
Since September, Kim Sargent and the employees at Tulsa Retina Consultants collected items for Ms. Foshee and her class.
"Just all the little things you wouldn't ask for on a school supply list always, but also stuff that is on a school supply list because some have the ability to bring, and some don't, so being able to get this from a third party and this grant is amazing," said Foshee.
Along with the supplies, the class also received a $500 check.
Foshee said she's already planning on what it will go toward.
"I think I will get some new STEM kits, maybe some microscopes that we can take with us on a walk. So many things to think of, that's a lot of money. I have never gotten that much money," Foshee said.
She said this support makes her job of supporting the kids much easier.
"Their imagination and their love for learning. They just to see their fresh ideas when they are learning something new and the light bulb comes on and it's just very rewarding work," Foshee said. "I mean the way our parents and community partners come together to help us be successful, that's is something we don't find everywhere, so it's really a blessing to have all of them, the people working together."
In total, Tulsa Retina Consultants donate $2 from every paycheck and donate it four times a year to different causes.
