A mother and son from Green Country just got back from helping people in Israel.
When a ministry in Israel posted on social media that they needed help after October 7th, the family said they felt like they had to go.
Delann Griego says her trip to Israel was a true calling.
"Immediately, I felt something in my heart, like no other trip that I've taken before; it was like, I'm going, I'm going," she said.
Once she knew she was going, she asked her son Garbiel Dao if he wanted to join.
He says he felt called to go, too.
They were there for a week, doing all sorts of things like working on farms and in factories and packing groceries for displaced families.
"We went and painted, we cleaned for them, a lot of them were evacuated, so we got them ready for the families to come back in," she said.
Gabriel says they also went near Gaza to where one of the more brutal attacks happened.
He says they spent time speaking with Israeli people about what they were going through.
"It was very eye-opening, just being there; it's different seeing it on the screen but being there and hearing the stories of the people who live there," he said.
They both hope to go back again.
Gabriel says there's so much hatred out there, and it's devastating.
"Just be discerning, don't let hatred for one or the other side enter into your heart, and just stand for peace," he said.
They also planted trees for a memorial for those who were killed on October 7th.
