Several people were hurt after a pool chemical container exploded at a Tulsa hotel Wednesday night, first responders said.
Firefighters said that container with some sort of pool chemical over-pressurized and exploded.
The explosion happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Embassy Suites near 31st and Memorial.
Firefighters said they don’t believe there is any damage to the property, but there were some injuries.
EMSA took two people to the hospital with minor injuries and another person drove himself to urgent care to get checked out, firefighters said.
Three other people were treated at the scene and did not want to go to the hospital, first responders said.
The room where this happened is on the outside of the hotel, so the situation wasn't as bad as it could have been, according to firefighters.
One guest visiting from Kansas City said he didn't hear the explosion. But when the hotel was evacuated, the chemical caused his eyes to hurt.
"There wasn't a lot of drama but I think there was a concern of everybody wanted to be safe. So they evacuated us," said Ritchey Cable, a hotel guest.
Guests at the hotel returned to their rooms after a couple of hours.
Firefighters said there is still a slight odor of chlorine on the first floor of the hotel. But they said there are no active risks.
