Greenwood Rising is now offering free admission to the History Center for a limited time for people living in Oklahoma.
Freedom Fridays allows Oklahomans free admission to the museum on Fridays from now until March 1.
This is the second year Greenwood Rising has hosted the free admission day.
Raymond Doswell, Executive Director for Greenwood Rising said the museum has welcomed over 100,000 visitors since it’s opening in 2021.
Doswell said they’re excited to welcome more visitors, because the goal is to get more people from Green Country to come and enjoy the award-winning history center.
He said half of the visitors are from outside the state and the rest are from Oklahoma.
A lot of Oklahomans don’t know about this history, so Doswell said people are thankful the History Center exists.
Doswell said when people visit, he hopes they will come in and feel the impact of Greenwood and the Tulsa Race Massacre.
“This is a very good time for people to come in. It’s Black History Month time. We’re busy but not always as busy because of the winter weather. As the weather is clear come on in on a Friday, show your Oklahoma ID and get a chance to enjoy some history," Doswell said.
Greenwood Rising is open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Doswell said it’s best to reserve your free ticket before coming to the museum.
