Description
One of Sassy Mama's kid friendly recipes, her bacon cheeseburger macaroni will be loved by ages 9-90.
Ingredients
- 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp chopped
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3½ cups water
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. ketchup
- 2 tsp. yellow mustard
- ½ tsp. black pepper
- 3 cups dried elbow macaroni
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 slices American cheese, torn
- Topping options: ketchup, mustard, dill pickle slices, shredded cheddar cheese, halved cherry tomatoes, slivered red onion
Instructions
- Cook Bacon: In a 6-qt. pot, cook bacon (if using) over medium heat until browned, stirring occasionally. Drain bacon on paper towels, reserving bacon drippings in the pot.
- Cook Beef: Add ground beef and onion to the pot. Cook over medium heat until beef is browned; drain off any fat.
- Add Ingredients: Stir in the next five ingredients (water, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard and pepper); bring to a boil.
- Add Macaroni: Add macaroni. Return to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, until macaroni is tender, 7 to 9 minutes.
- Stir: Gradually stir in half-and-half and cheeses, alternating between ¼ cup cream and a handful of cheeses at a time. Stir until the cheeses are melted. Stir in cooked bacon and serve with desired toppings.
