Pipeline Explodes In Oklahoma Panhandle; Flames Seen For Miles

Firefighters from several agencies were on the scene of a pipeline explosion and fire in the panhandle on Tuesday.

An investigation is underway into the cause of a pipeline explosion and fire in the panhandle on Tuesday.

The Booker Fire Department in Texas shared the video online on Wednesday and said the flames shot as high as 500 feet in the air and could be seen from miles away. There are no reports of any injuries

Phillips 66 released the following statement about the incident

"Phillips 66 is responding to a pipeline rupture and fire that occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, on a natural gas pipeline it operates in the Oklahoma Panhandle about 60 miles west of Woodward. Phillips 66 shut in the affected section of the pipeline and made the appropriate regulatory notifications. The fire was extinguished early Wednesday morning. There have been no injuries associated with the incident and no health threats to neighboring residences. Local fire and law enforcement agencies responded, and roads near the site were temporarily closed. The cause of the rupture has not been determined. Phillips 66’s first priority in responding to this incident is ensuring the safety and health of its workers, emergency responders, and the surrounding community."
