The inbound lanes of I-244 between I-44 and the RedFork split will be closed, with a detour along I-44 to Highway 75 North.

Closer to downtown, I-244 from the split to the river will be narrowed to 2 lanes, so delays are likely. That section usually handles 74,000 vehicles a day.

“We are excited to get this project started and get some rehab done on rough pavement in that area,” said T.J. Gerlach with ODOT.

The $52 million project will make improvements on 5 miles of highway with rough and damaged pavement.

The section on the western edge will be done one direction at a time.

“The northbound lanes first, that's going to be completely redone, and once that's done around August or September, we'll swap to the southbound side, and the southbound lanes will be completely closed,” said Gerlach.
