'It's A Family Tradition': Claremore Woman Spreads Love By Decorating Her Home For Every Holiday

Imagine if the holidays never stopped. For one Claremore woman, they don't. For 43 years she's decorated her home for every holiday.

Janelle Hankinson's home is currently decorated for Valentine’s Day. Love is shown on the fireplace, in the kitchen and even on the dining room table.

"That's who I am,” Hankinson said. “I am the holiday girl. I have Valentine's Day clothes for the first fourteen days of February."

Hankinson has decorations for every holiday. From Christmas to Fourth of July to even April Fools, but there's one holiday she won't decorate for.

"I had people tease me and say you decorate for every holiday except Groundhog's Day, and I said if they had any cute decorations, I'd decorate for that too but they don't have them,” Hankinson said.

She's found cute decorations for everything else.

Her passion for spreading the holiday spirit came from her mother.

"She always made holidays very special, I mean everything,” Hankinson said. “So it was always a very big deal to us."

That sentiment stayed with Hankinson, and even though she moved away from her family, she wanted to create the same memories for her kids that her mom created for her.

"That was a huge thing to me as a kid,” Hankinson said. “I knew all my aunts and uncles, my great aunts and uncles and great grandparents and you know my kids didn't have that."

Although her kids are grown, she continues to decorate because it's her way of spreading love.

"It's a way to connect with the ones that are gone and the ones that are still here and it's a family tradition even though I did even more than they did,” Hankinson said.

Love is all year round in this holiday house.
