Broken Arrow Police said two teenagers are dead in what officers are investigating as a murder-suicide.
Police said the victims were siblings and the family found them dead inside their home near West Florence Street and South Aspen Avenue.
Neighbors told News On 6 they would see the siblings outside playing basketball and riding the school bus.
"It just breaks my heart," said neighbor Deacon Robert Owens. "Of course, you don't expect that any time, let alone your neighbor. Our hearts and prayers are certainly out for them."
Police said family members called 911 around 1:45 p.m. to the home just northeast of Aspen Creek Elementary.
The family came home and found the teenage boy dead.
As officers were on the way, family members found the teenage girl dead.
Investigators believe the boy killed the girl and then himself.
They said they hadn't found any weapons and are working to figure out what happened.
BAPD said the home has not had other issues in the past. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
“This is one of the hardest calls that officers have to go on," said Capt. Josh McCoy with BAPD. "Every time we talk about deceased kids, this is something that impacts us deeply. Like you just said, we have families, we have children. At the Broken Arrow Police Department, we take that into consideration with our employees and our officers.”
Broken Arrow Public Schools shared the following statement:
"We are aware of the investigation, but are waiting to hear the identities of the victims. We do not know at this time if they are Broken Arrow students, but given the location of the incident, it's likely. We have mobilized additional counselors so that we are ready to deploy them to sites as needed tomorrow for grief counseling."
