A Tulsa nonprofit is looking to build a safe and secure place for children in the community to learn and play.

Executive Director Stephen Pyle said The Common Good is getting ready to build a playground for its after-school program.

He said eventually the rest of the community will be able to benefit from it as well.

The playground is in pieces at this time. The Common Good said it is in the beginning stages of the project.

Pyle said eventually the empty space will feature gardening beds and recreational courts to go along with the playground.

He said for The Common Good, they want to show the community that they want the best for it.

"For us, it shows an investment in Northwest Tulsa. It shows an investment in our neighbors. And ultimately, that is our goal here. Our mission is to really advocate for opportunities for our friends and our neighbors in Northwest Tulsa, and so these investments are a sign of that," Pyle said.

The Common Good hopes to have the playground open for its after-school program by March 15 before opening it up to the community sometime in mid-April.
