The City of Collinsville is getting ready to bring back a senior citizens program after not having one for several years.

There were a lot of senior citizen programs in Tulsa and the surrounding cities, except for Collinsville.

Collinsville will be reviving its new senior program in the Tulsa City County Health Department downtown.

The city needed a place for senior citizens to come together to participate in various activities, including an exercise program and crafts.

Community Outreach Coordinator Sherry Campbell said just having a facility will get more senior citizens to settle in Collinsville.

"We get a lot of calls from seniors asking what sort of activities we offer to senior citizens. And they base their reason for moving on whether or not they want to move to a community as to what they have to offer. And we found that we didn't really have a whole lot to offer. And so we felt it important to change that," Campbell said.

The senior program will open up on March 5 and be open two days a week to start. Those days will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
