NatureWorks, a non-profit organization that helps the development and conservation of wildlife preserves, says it's making progress on its huge installation of bison statues at LaFortune Park.
The park installed its first family of four in February of 2023 and organizers say they just ordered their second family of four.
The herd will eventually have 40 statues of bison.
The installation artist was at the NatureWorks art show this weekend and says even though it's a long process, he's excited to see it through.
"It's really a great opportunity for the people of Tulsa to go see these different types of animals, understand, learn about them, and hopefully be able to take their children there for years and years to come," artist Stephen LeBlanc said.
LeBlanc says each large bison takes about 125 different panels for molding, and each animal is in a different pose.
NatureWorks says the project will take another a few years before it's complete.
