The Broken Arrow Police Department is working to make sure parents can keep kids safe from human trafficking.
BAPD said human trafficking can happen anywhere, and with the rise of social media, criminals are using online platforms to find victims.
The department said criminals are using the Internet as the gateway for making contact with people through apps like Snapchat, Instagram, and even video game chat rooms; because most kids and teens in our area aren't using mass transit.
That's why police are hosting a forum to bring different groups together to educate parents about human trafficking. They said parents should talk to kids about online safety.

Police said even though parents trust their kids, knowing what they're doing online is a matter of safety.
"Parents don't sometimes realize what all happens with social media. They should know their kids' passwords. They should be checking up on those things. Because you would not let a stranger just walk up and start talking to your 12-year-old daughter. But you have a social media device in which that can happen all day long, 24 hours a day, without you knowing it," said Chief Brandon Berryhill, Broken Arrow Police.
The forum is at Central on Main starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday night, March 4. BAPD said it will also be available to livestream online.
