A 28-year-old man is undergoing a mental health evaluation after engaging in a standoff with Tulsa law enforcement for over six hours on Saturday.

Tulsa Police said it started when someone called 911 saying a man near 12th and Boston was walking around with a weapon.

Once officers arrived and found the man, he wouldn't listen to commands and the standoff started.

Captain Thom Bell with Tulsa Police said crisis negotiators at the scene eventually got the man to surrender peacefully and there were no injuries.

"We basically set up containment on him to make sure the public was remaining safe." Captain Bell said. "Our crisis negotiators arrived and fortunately after about six hours of them methodically negotiating with him he peacefully surrendered and no force was used."
