A crash left three people dead and two others injured in southeast Oklahoma City on Saturday, police say.
Helen Thompson, 54, was the driver of the vehicle. There were four passengers, ages 6, 7, 9 and 13.
The 6-year-old, a girl, was unrestrained in the car, police say. She was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Thompson and two of the passengers were pinned in the vehicle, police say. The 7-year-old was removed from the car and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Thompson and the 13-year-old were taken to OU Trauma Center. Thompson was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 9-year-old was able to remove himself from the car, and is currently at a local hospital. The 13-year-old is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, police say.
Del City Police said the single vehicle crash happened at Southeast 15th Street and South Bryant just before 8 p.m. According to police, the driver lost control of the car, left the road, and struck a tree.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police say speed may have been a factor.
