Heritage Hall Alumnus, Detroit Tigers Pitcher Making A Name For Himself

A name you'll most likely become familiar with quite soon, Jackson Jobe, the Heritage Hall alumnus is making a name for himself in Major League Baseball

Now playing Double-A baseball for the Erie SeaWolves in Pennsylvania, the Double-A affiliate for the Detroit Tigers, Jobe is making a name for himself.

Selected third overall by Detroit in 2021, then the highest drafted Oklahoma baseball player in history, in his Spring Training debut, Jobe pitched four hitless innings against the Harrisburg Senators.

In the offseason though, Jobe gets finely tuned locally, with Mercy Hospital's ace physical therapist David Huslig, who works with local kids to college and NFL stars, and was a Team USA Olympic trainer at the 2021 Tokyo Games.

"I know his spine really well," Huslig said. "I'm very invested to help Jackson to be able to reach some of these goals."

Those goals, Jobe said, have been long dreamt of.

"I definitely dreamed of being in the major leagues since I was probably four or five years old," Jobe said. "I love baseball, I love football, I love basketball. I wasn't a huge golfer but I just knew like one of those three like I got to figure something out."

Jobe's father Brandt is a successful pro golfer, who is soon-to-be active again on the PGA Champions Tour following knee surgery.

Jackson loved football, and when his broken hand healed his sophomore year of high school, Jobe was moved by Heritage Hall football coach Brett Bogart from safety to starting quarterback, leading Bulger's chargers to a state championship.

Bolgar said Jackson was an awesome young man and talent, a natural thrower and the most dominant high school pitcher, and hitter, he's ever seen.

Now, Jackson also works out at PitchingWRX, specializing from kids to big league stars. There, the latest technology helps the right hander fine-tune his arm and body under the watchful eye of Alex Marney.

"I would refer to him [Jobe] as a generational athlete," Marney said. "It is special, the work ethic is off the charts. Obviously the fact that he is such a gifted athlete helps, but his ability to feel his body and to make adjustments on the fly is really what sets him apart."

Marney also said even World Series-winning pitching clients tell him there's something special about Jobe, such as striking out batter after batter.

With local offseason help, the national spotlight awaits the Detroit Tigers media, fans are optimistic their top-pitching prospect will flourish in the big leagues later this season.
