Marietta Hospital Discusses Recovery After EF-4 Tornado

Marietta was hit by an EF-4 tornado Saturday that left several people homeless, businesses decimated and the local hospital damaged.

Eight people were under the hospital’s care, and two people were in the emergency room at the time.

Hospital staff managed to get patients to shelter before the storm hit.

The hospital held a press conference, thanking local and federal officials for helping the community in the wake of the tornado, including FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell.

Criswell says damage and emergency response costs are already over $8 million in Hughes, Murray and Love Counties.

Right now the Marietta Memorial Hospital is closed, but they are using their ambulances to shuttle people to Ardmore and Gainsville to get the care they need.

Hospital officials say they're waiting on their insurance adjuster to look at the damage before they can clear the facility and start taking patients again.
