The Oklahoma Sooners' 2024 season come to a close Monday night following a loss to UConn in the NCAA Norman Regional final.

UConn pitcher Gabe Van Emon threw seven scoreless innings as the Huskies routed the Sooners 7-1.

"We just didn't play very good tonight," Sooners head coach Skip Johnson said. "We just never could really sustain a rally. Hats off to UConn, they did a great job and they're moving forward."

The Sooners were held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning, after a groundout double play allowed sophomore Easton Carmichael to cross home.

Winning 40 games for the second time in three seasons and winning the program's first Big 12 regular season title by three games, the Sooners still have much to improve upon if they hope to advance to the College World Series in Omaha next season.
