June is AED and CPR awareness month. The American Heart Association is also celebrating its 100 year anniversary.

Mark Fried with The American Heart Association joined us on the Coca-Cola Southwest Porch to teach CPR and celebrate.

Freed said giving CPR is not as hard as people think and could save a life.

'There's really two things that people need to understand. Number one, call 911, number two, press hard and fast in the center of the chest.' Fried said.

When giving CPR, he said to put the heel and palm of your hand in the middle of the chest. Put the other hand on top and push up and down to a steady rhythm.

Fried said the song 'Staying Alive' by The Bee Gees is the rhythm to aim for.

You can get CPR certified by going to The American Heart Association website.
