Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Announces New Race For 2025 Marathon

Registration for the 25th annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon opens on Tuesday, and they are introducing a new race to celebrate the milestone.

Kari Watkins, President and CEO of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum, shared exclusively on News 9 at 9 that the 2025 race will feature a quarter marathon for the 25th anniversary.

"We're gonna retire the relay, but don't panic," Watkins said.

The quarter marathon is 6.55 miles and can be run individually or as a four-person team to complete a full marathon.

"You can start together, run together, finish together, or you can just run it on your own," Watkins said.

It will take place on the Sunday of race weekend, along with the marathon and half marathon. The course is partially new and goes through Automobile Alley, which the organizers said was a nod to the original course.

"That was our original finish line. We're gonna give a nod to the Automobile Alley merchants who loved that race," Watkins said. "We're gonna run back through there and thank them for what they've done."

Registration for the 2025 OKC Memorial Marathon opens on Tuesday at noon. If runners register in the first 25 hours, they will be entered in a drawing for a VIP Experience that includes two round-trip airline tickets in the contiguous U.S. to OKC, three nights' suite at the Omni host hotel over Marathon weekend, dinner with the running legends race weekend, Rimowa luggage, two spots in the A corral in 2025, two free 2026 registrations, and more.

There are also 25 registration codes hidden in boxes along the marathon course.

Watkins said they are excited to keep honoring those impacted by the 1995 bombing and celebrate how far Oklahoma City has come.

"It's really an exciting year. It's the 30th anniversary of the bombing, the 25th of the marathon," Watkins said. "We just wanna keep running to remember it. It is what makes this race different than every other race across the country."

Opening registration will also be the lowest price for the 2025 race.
