Even during the summer, parents want their kids to keep learning, and have fun and the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City is doing just that.
The Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City said their organization works to eliminate education barriers for students in underserved parts of the metro.
News 9's Jordan Ryan took the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to see what kind of things there are for students.
Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City president and CEO Dr. Valerie Thompson said students are provided with learning opportunities and tools they might not otherwise get to experience.
"We've been doing this for 15 years this year is really special because Devon Energy and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation donated us a STEM lab," Thompson said "This is very important for these kids because they come from low-performing schools."
Thompson said the lab will sharpen children's skills during the summer, and keep their minds sharp for when school starts in the fall.
