An Oklahoma City Police Department officer arrested an armed suspect with an active felony warrant after he led the officer on an on-foot chase.
OCPD said the suspect, Jordy Cifuentes-Hernandez, had a history of violent arrests and posted the body camera footage to Facebook, saying the chase ended with a struggle for the officer's life.
According to the post, the suspect's previous violent arrests included possession of a firearm, escaping arrest, domestic assault, abuse in the presence of a minor, and eluding police.
The video posted shows Officer Michaela Werner stopping a vehicle registered to Cifuentes-Hernandez on June 30 near Southeast 44th Street and Bryant Avenue.
There were three people in the vehicle, and police said a male passenger had immediately stepped out of the vehicle.
A second male passenger, later identified as Cifuentes-Hernandez, grabbed a backpack and took off running.
An on-foot chase began, and OCPD said the suspect did not follow any officer commands and fought with the officer while attempting to reach inside the backpack, where a loaded firearm was later located.
After around two minutes of fighting and struggling over the loaded pistol in the backpack, more OCPD officers arrived and assisted with arresting Cifuentes-Hernandez.
According to OCPD, he has been jailed on several new complaints.
