OG&E Crews Assisting In Hurricane Beryl Relief Efforts In Texas

In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, crews from OG&E are leaving Oklahoma to assist with recovery efforts in storm-damaged parts of Texas.

As temperatures rise to the triple-digits this week, more than 100 OG&E employees and contractors will be traveling to south Texas to assist with power restoration.

At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, a fleet of OG&E trucks carrying line crews and support personnel will depart from Moore, Oklahoma, and will arrive in southern Texas by the afternoon to assist CenterPoint Energy in restoring power to their customers.

Carson Cunningham, an OG&E senior communications specialist, said it is normal for crews to assist their neighboring states.

"We help each other out," Cunningham said. "Last May, we sent crews down to Houston."

CenterPoint Energy in Houston requested support from OG&E, as nearly 1.8 million of their customers remain without electricity as of Wednesday.

Mutual assistance crews are typically deployed for up to 14 days. If more assistance is needed, OG&E will rotate in additional crews.
