Tulsa-Based Studio Launches Improv Team With Classes, Upcoming Live Shows

The Cody Mayo Studios in Tulsa is known for its professional film-acting workshops. 

This fall CMS will be launching a professional improv comedy training program. Cody Mayo & Ryan Archibald with the CMSImprov team stopped by the Arca Continental Coca-Coca Southwest Beverages Porch to talk about new comedy classes and live shows headed to Tulsa. 

How was CMSimprov inspired?

Both Arch & I understand the importance of what professional comedy training can do not only for performers but for anyone! 

Post-pandemic many highly talented artists had to leave the larger markets for a number of reasons and with that we are bringing a level of training and entertainment that used to be exclusive to the big cities or touring groups. It was part of my vision for Cody Mayo Studios to have a comedy wing and I am looking forward to working with Arch to bring this to life!

CMSimprov seeks to bring premier LIVE SHOWS right here to the Tulsa community and create a NEW date night experience. With that, we are also going to offer classes where students can work their way up to the main stage and even look to start providing entertainment & training for local corporate events and meetings.

What kind of classes will you offer?  

We will be offering a multi-level improv program that is inspired by some of the nation's leading comedic institutions. This fully comprehensive program is designed to cultivate local talent and give them a chance to become headliners to entertain the Tulsa community and beyond! Everyone, no matter their experience, will start in Level 1!

When does CMSimprov launch?

Enrollment is open for the inaugural class, Level 1 "Improv Basics" that begins September 10 and runs Tuesday evenings for 6 weeks. 

The professional LIVE SHOWS will begin in October with tickets going on sale August 26!
