A 25-year-old county road worker died after he lost control of the roller he was driving, authorities said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Ian Lampkins, of Beggs, was working west of Highway 75 near Winchester around 2 p.m. Wednesday when he was thrown from the driver's seat and pinned beneath the roller.

The equipment did have a seatbelt but OHP said Lampkins was not using it.

Medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.
