Tens of thousands of people from across the country are watching videos from a farm in Muskogee.

The Windridge Farm Tales TikTok account tells the story of a chicken taking care of some puppies.

As the old saying goes: to raise a child, it takes a village.

This village is made up of all kinds of parents working together—chickens, dogs, goats and a human—Tracie Hale.

"I love being a mommy, and I get to be a mommy to all the animals. So the most exciting part about having all of these farm animals is the babies, playing with them, and I always have bottle babies from the goats and so I like to take care of them," she said.

But she's not the only one who tends to the needs of the babies on the farm.

"Harriet is our resident mommy chicken," said Hale.

She became a first-time mom recently, but not to chicks.

"I could never guess and could never try to figure out what made her think she was going to take care of the puppies,” Hale said.

10 Great Pyrenees Puppies, whom she co-parented with their biological mother, Lucy. It was the least Lucy could do after eating Harriet's eggs.

"She loves eggs just like we do,” Hale said, laughing.

"I have heard of chickens mothering kittens, all kinds of different animals, and so it was really exciting when she did that with the puppies because when they came out, they were practically the size of her, so when she was mothering them, they were the same size as her," she said.

Tracy caught Harriet on camera in her role as mother hen—she would sit on the newborn pups and protect them if danger was near.

Tracy decided to share the moments with a bigger audience on TikTok.

"I started getting a little bit of a following, and then when Harriet started being the mother to these puppies, the videos started to go viral," she said.

The puppies have left the nest and found new families, but Tracie says watching a village of mothers raise them was a wonderful experience.
