In our Oklahoma's Own Focus On Kids, we're looking at a new study into how screen time could impact children's mental health later in life.

A study from Jama Pediatrics found that children under four who get 75 minutes or more of screen time per day showed more anger and frustration as they aged.

Researchers say the children also had trouble regulating emotions.

They say it's important for parents not to use screen time as a digital pacifier

“It might allow parents to immediately avoid a temper tantrum, but in the long term, repeated use of this kind of strategy does not allow children to develop strong, internal emotional regulation skills,” said Caroline Fitzpatrick.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that kids two and up have a maximum of an hour of screen time per day.
