Shoppers packed into the Tulsa Premium Outlets outlet mall on its opening day Thursday in Jenks.
Hundreds of people lined up before Thursday's ribbon cutting to get the first chance at deals in the stores.
We talked to a bunch of shoppers who were surprised by just how many stores are here and how big the property is. Most of all, they’re thankful to have more shopping options in this part of town.
Dozens of people waited to get inside the Nike store.
“It’s amazing, it's great, it's a nice turnout for people out here,” said a shopper.
They said it’s been a long time coming.
“There’s a lot. It's like Woodland Hills but closer. I love it,” said Gabriel Allen.
“I heard the outlet mall was opening,” said Kevin McKee. “I've been seeing it built for years and years and years turns out it lives up to the hype.”
People lined up early to take advantage of what they hoped were big deals.
“I think it's cute,” said Fayth Washington. “I wanted to see it. “They’ve been building it a long time. It's like shopping; why would you not want to do it?”
There are more than 75 businesses as well as places for food and drinks. And the kids have a place to play too.
“It's nice to have some place for the kids to play to run off some energy and stuff,” said Roger Walker.
Deals, free food, giveaways, and live entertainment like a DJ and dancers created a fun atmosphere for the shoppers, like Chelsea Smith and 10-year-old Georgia, who bought out bags from one of the stores to give to teachers.
They say they’re all about the family time this will bring.
“Lucky us, lucky us, we don't have to drive to OKC or Branson,” she said.
They'll have lots of events again on Friday and into the weekend and the mall stays open until 9.
