With 79 days until Election Day, former President Donald Trump held a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, while Vice President Kamala Harris is set to begin a bus tour of the state Sunday.
This comes on the eve of this week’s Democratic National Convention.
At a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Trump escalated his personal attacks against Harris, while attempting to focus on economic issues.
“I’m a better-looking person than Kamala,” Trump said. “In her speech yesterday, Kamala went full communist.”
Trump’s comments were in response to Harris outlining her economic policy proposals in North Carolina on Friday, a key battleground state where the race is tightening.
Meanwhile, Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, campaigned in Nebraska on Saturday, promoting the campaign’s new plan.
“Lowering the cost of rent and the opportunity to own your own home,” Walz said. He added that Harris’ plan would build an “opportunity economy” during their first 100 days in office, focusing on tax cuts for the middle class rather than billionaires.
Housing affordability and a proposed federal ban on price gouging are among the key proposals.
Trump criticized Harris’ economic promises, saying, “She says she’s going to lower the cost of food and housing on day one, but day one for Kamala was 3 1/2 years ago, so why didn’t she do it then?”
Harris, who has gained new momentum among Democrats, is scheduled to kick off a bus tour of western Pennsylvania, ahead of the Democratic National Convention, which will begin in Chicago on Monday.
