The Cherokee National Holiday will be held during the Labor Day weekend.
The three-day celebration marks the signing of the Cherokee Nation Constitution in 1839.
Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. stopped by the Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to talk about this year’s Cherokee National Holiday.
"It signifies and memorializes a really important time in Cherokee history after our forced removal," Hoskin said. "After the Trail of Tears, we were split, but our ancestors came together. The substance and symbol of that unity is our constitution."
The celebration will have art shows, music performances, a parade, and a powwow.
Chief Hoskin is set to give a State of the Nation address on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Thousands of visitors are expected to attend the festival.
