Fans who have not made it out to ONEOK Field yet this season for a Tulsa Drillers game have just one week left.
The Drillers are playing the San Antonia Missions for its final homestand.
“It feels like just yesterday we had Opening Day,” said Director of Promotions & Merchandise for the Tulsa Drillers, Alex Kossakoski. “This last homestand is a really fun one. We have got a lot of cool promotions that are super unique and new additions that we have never done before.”
On Thursday, Sept. 5 the first 1,000 fans will get a Drillers custom football jersey. Then, on Sept. 6 it is OKC Thunder Night at the ballpark. The game on Saturday, Sept. 7 is Harry Potter Night where the first 1,500 fans get a hat representing one of the four Hogwarts Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. The final home game of the season is Bluey Night on Sunday, September 8th. It features a meet-and-greet with Bluey once the gates open.
These promotions help get new people in the gates, but the atmosphere is what keeps fans coming back.
“We are big baseball fans,” said Ryan Archibald. “We think it is one of the best nights out that you can have in Tulsa.”
He was cheering on the Drillers during the team's last day game on Wednesday with his wife and 23-month-old daughter Franki.
“She loves the games, she loves the food, and she loves Hornsby,” Archibald said. “There is just so much for kids to do here from the splash pad to the playground, it is very, very family friendly.”
Also in the crowd are students from area technical schools, some of who have never been to a day game before.
“I do not really care about watching baseball, but actually being at a game and being able to yell on for a team, even if I do not know what is happening, I feel included, and it feels nice,” said Tyler Kik.
Having more people in the stands is a home run for the Drillers.
“We play a lot better at home than we do on the road because we have got the home crowd with us,” said Kossakoski.
That is why he and his team think outside the box, even bringing an all-new postgame drone show to the ballpark this Saturday night.
“A company called Sky Elements that is on America's Got Talent right now, they are semifinalists, they are coming out and doing a drone show for us,” Kossakoski said. “Around 150 drones will be in the sky, it is going to be one of the most unique things we have done.”
