A couple driving home from Muskogee on Wednesday happened upon a deadly crash involving a tractor.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 55-year-old Brent Eller died after his tractor was hit by a truck on Highway 64.

The OHP report says Eller was following all traffic laws at the time and the cause is under investigation.

A couple came across the crash moments after it happened and jumped into action to try to save Eller.

“When I saw the man laying there, I just immediately, like I said, I just could not get there fast enough. I got out of the car. I ran to him as fast as I could,” said Whitney Henderson.

Whitney and her husband were driving home to Warner from Muskogee when they saw the crash.

“She just went into nurse mode, just like automatic, you know, it just, she, just like, you know, she just was on top down, CPR, and I was just kind of a shock, you know? It was not good,” said Justin Henderson.

Whitney says even with her training as a nurse, nothing prepared her for this.

“That was the moment I realized, you know, something horrific just happened. Having to stand there and realize and see it was, it was just a state of shock,” said Henderson.

The couple has been contacted by Eller’s family and friends who thanked them for stopping. The couple says they appreciate the kind words but hope others would do the same as they did.

“I just feel like we did what anyone would have done in our situation, you know, just thinking, you know, I would hope that someone would do that for me or my husband, to stop, and I think that's one of the most important things you know, is if you see something, do stop and you know and help,” said Henderson.

The Henderson's are looking at today with a fresh perspective, amid grieving a man they never really knew.

“Love your family. You know, kiss them, tell them you love them before you go. I think that's what I've struggled with because it's it hit home for me,” said Henderson.

The driver of the truck that hit Eller was also taken to the hospital with injuries.
