OSU unveiled a new statute of Frank Eaton, the inspiration behind mascot Pistol Pete, on Friday.
This new statue sits on the northeast side of Cowgirl Softball Stadium off Duck Street and McElroy Road.
It's of Frank Eaton, who inspired Oklahoma State's mascot Pistol Pete.
The piece was sculpted by Harold Holden.
He created several different statues and monuments across the Oklahoma State campus, including statues of Barry Sanders and T. Boone Pickens.
This particular piece was his final sculpture given to the university before he passed away in 2023.
John Rule was a friend of Harold’s and helped complete the statue once Harold died and says this was something Harold had in mind for 15 years and knows he’d be proud.
“Not that he wouldn’t be proud of the other ones, but I think he’d be most proud of this one,” he said.
The university says this monument represents the lasting legacy Frank Eaton has had on Oklahoma State.
