Osage County finished a one-day recount of ballots from the election for Tulsa Mayor, while Tulsa County plans to finish a much larger recount Tuesday.
In Osage County, a hand recount of ballots resulted in 794 votes for Monroe Nichols, 291 for Karen Keith, and 66 for Brent VanNorman, who requested the recount and is partially paying for it.
The Tulsa County election board completed the count of 141 of 150 precincts and will resume Tuesday morning.
Few vote totals have changed at the precinct level, mainly from ballots the machines accepted, but which were rejected in the hand recount because of stray marks, considered “overvotes” and invalid.
Osage County recounted 1,070 while Tulsa County is counting more than 50,000.
The overall recount in Tulsa is likely the largest in state history, but with few numbers changing, appears unlikely to change the outcome of Monroe Nichols and Karen Keith advancing to a run-off, without third-place finisher Brent Van Norman.
