The U.S. drought monitor says more than half of Oklahoma is in some kind of drought right now, ranging from abnormally dry to extreme drought.
The most extreme areas are the southwestern portions of our state.
About 1.6 million Oklahomans live in those drought areas, which is up 20% from last week.
Oklahoma Forestry Services says eight counties have burn bans in effect.
