Students from Broken Arrow High School are set to showcase their creativity at the annual Tiger Talent Show on Friday night at the Performing Arts Center.
From singing and dancing, the event promises a night filled with diverse talent.
“We even have a heavy metal band,” said Jeremy Stevens, Director of Theater at Broken Arrow High School, who selected the 15 acts earlier this month. Among those acts is Chris Capra's newly formed rock band, which has been preparing for the talent show since coming together just a month ago.
“We just thought it would be cool,” said Capra, who plays the bass and is passionate about creating meaningful music. “I want to make music that isn't mindless and calculated like it is nowadays. I want it to be something that doesn't sound like anything anyone has heard before and inspires a sense of hope in people because we need that nowadays.”
The audience will get to choose the winner of the talent show.
“It's kind of like Valentine's Day, where kids get to decorate their own box, and then the general public puts money in there, and that's how they decide a winner,” explained Stevens.
Stevens shared that watching students like Chris have the opportunity to showcase their talents is his favorite part of the job.
“I just sat back in awe that these are the kids that I get to work with. There are talented kids here, and they impress me every day,” he said.
The show starts at 7 p.m., with tickets available for $10 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the school's theater department.
