The Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG) is looking for better ways to connect different communities across the region for those who bike and walk.

INCOG is hosting several workshops this week so folks can voice their opinions on what improvements are needed for area trails. INCOG's director of transportation, Thomas Dow, said since Green Country residents are the ones using the trails the most, it's important to hear from them. For Dow, their safety is the top priority.

"What we are really trying to accomplish with the update of the 'GO! Plan' is to make sure that when people choose to walk or ride their bicycle that they are able to do so in a safe manner, that it’s comfortable, that they have a convenient route to take, and that it’s navigable too," Dow said.

Dow said everybody in our community has their own set of experiences with how they have used the regional trail network, the sidewalks, and the bike lanes.

Dow said INCOG wants to make sure they are learning from them where they think improvements are needed.

There are workshops that anyone can attend both on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25.

The workshops on Sept. 24 will take place at the Sand Springs Case Community Center at 1050 W. Wekiwa Road and at Northeastern State University in Broken Arrow at 3100 E. New Orleans.

The workshops on Sept. 25 will take place at Sapulpa City Hall at 425 E. Dewey Avenue and the South Broken Arrow Library at 3600 S. Chestnut Avenue.

All of the workshops will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
