More than three hundred kids in Oklahoma are on the waiting list right now to get their wishes granted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

To help make some of those wishes come true, volunteers held a clay shoot competition.

The money raised during this event at Snake Creek Shooting Sports will go directly to funding kids' wishes in Oklahoma.

Katie Goss has Friedreich Ataxia which is a rare disease that causes her muscles not to work properly. Her wish was to go to Hawaii and having that granted gave her hope.

“My disease is not curable at all. It changes a kid's life. I shouldn’t be here right now, but I am because of Make-A-Wish,” Goss said.

Ron Hardzog serves as the board chair for the organization. He got involved originally because of the impact it had on his own family.

“I got to see my grandsons which was very personal but when I have seen other kids and I’ve been able to assist with a wish it’s just incredible,” Hardzog said. “It’s an expression more than just happiness it’s almost hard to describe but the look and emotion that’s on their face is incredible.”

With the shooting clay event, his goal is to create that emotion for other kids by providing them with a wish.

“They have something to look forward to and we call it hope, strength and joy,” Hardzog said. “That’s what a wish does for a kid their family and everyone involved.”
