Hawkins Jr. Leads Sooners To Road Win Over Conference Rival Auburn

Oklahoma secured its first SEC victory with a 27-21 comeback win over Auburn, led by freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., the first OU true freshman to start a road game since 1984.

Hawkins rushed for a 48-yard touchdown in the first quarter. The Sooners trailed 21-10 in the fourth but rallied after a 60-yard pass to JJ Hester set up a TD.

Kip Lewis’ 63-yard pick-six gave Oklahoma the lead, and a strong defensive finish, including back-to-back sacks, sealed the win.
