Nonprofits and community organizations in Tulsa depend on volunteers to maintain critical services as resources tighten and demand increases. From food banks to animal shelters, local groups rely on community members who donate their time to ensure their operations continue.

At the Tulsa Day Center, volunteers help serve meals, provide support for job placement services, and assist the unhoused population. These volunteers are essential in meeting the needs of the growing number of clients seeking assistance.

Organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma and the Tulsa Dream Center also rely on volunteers for mentorship programs, youth outreach, and community support. These volunteers help provide guidance and stability to Tulsa’s youth.

The Tulsa SPCA and Animal Aid of Tulsa depend on volunteers to care for animals, assist with adoption events, and provide foster homes. Whether it’s walking dogs, cleaning kennels, or organizing events, volunteers ensure these shelters can continue their operations.

Family & Children Services relies on volunteers to help with projects at the FCS Thrift Store, support the Women in Recovery program, and assist at fundraising events. The Little Lighthouse offers critical support for families and children with developmental delays and mental health challenges. Volunteers play a vital role in supporting both organizations' programs.

Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa relies on volunteers to deliver meals to homebound seniors and those with disabilities, while the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma continues to pack and distribute meals to families facing food insecurity with volunteer assistance.

Soldier’s Wish, a nonprofit supporting veterans, and John 3:16 Mission, which serves individuals experiencing homelessness, both use volunteers for tasks ranging from event assistance to providing direct support to clients.

While organizations work to support Tulsa residents, volunteers play a key role in keeping these services available, helping to improve the community one effort at a time. Local nonprofits are always seeking more volunteers, especially as they struggle to meet the growing demand for services.
