A quaint restaurant in Porter elevates its food while offering affordable, family-friendly options.

Like its namesake, PorterHouse is known for its steaks, but this small-town eatery offers much more to taste and experience.

There’s a buzz inside this little restaurant, and it’s not just because of all the honey.

Brandy Bratt and her husband, Casey, opened PorterHouse this summer. It was previously a café that Casey built himself.

“The booths were something we found,” Brandy said. “Love the look, and we started decorating around bulls and bees.”

The bee and bull theme is featured throughout the café, with fresh flowers adding to the hometown feel.

“We get those locally from a store here called Happy Bees,” Brandy said.

The name implies steak, which is indeed what PorterHouse is known for, but there’s something for everyone.

“We have good, fresh ingredients,” Brandy said. “Our beef is fresh and never frozen.”

In the kitchen, head cook Anthony Sands says he cooks to make people happy.

“The satisfaction from people,” he said.

A charcoal grill is the star of the show, adding extra flavor to the beef.

“You get that smoky flavor and the tenderness,” Anthony said.

The ribeye steak is cooked sous vide for an hour and seasoned with a special Brazilian blend.

“We like to add a little color, so we throw it on the grill,” he said.

On the griddle, Evan is cooking up some burgers and letting fries turn golden brown. He’s also searing bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers.

“The cream cheese takes away some of the heat, but they have the spice to them,” he said.

The poppers are finished with honey to provide balance.

“The spicy of the jalapeños, sweetness of the honey, and saltiness of the bacon,” Anthony said. “It's a big flavor sensation.”

These poppers give you the kick you’re looking for, balanced with creaminess and sweetness at the end.

Another fan favorite is the crispy onion strings, inspired by another restaurant in town that closed. They’re battered, fried, and topped with Cajun seasoning—perfectly crispy and full of spice.

“Basically, everything we make is pretty much from scratch,” Anthony said.

That includes the mac and cheese, which features a three-cheese sauce and is a perfect option for kids and adults. It’s served alongside seared asparagus and the beautifully cooked ribeye, which you can tell hit the charcoal. The steak is unique and tender, and the sides are a perfect pair.

If you’re still hungry, scratch-made desserts like peach cobbler and ice cream shouldn’t be skipped.

Brandy says the restaurant is a true family affair—some of her six kids work there, and the family is proud to offer Porter something special.

“We’ve gotten a lot of good feedback from people being excited and proud that they can have something like this here and go on a date night or family dinner,” she said.

She encourages people to step out of their way a bit, take a seat, enjoy great food, and spend time with loved ones at PorterHouse.

The PorterHouse is located at 506 Elberta Ave Porter Ok 74454 Porter, OK 74454.
