A jury heard details of the torture and beating death of an 11-year-old boy Thursday in the murder trial of John Miles.
He faces a first-degree murder charge in a case where detectives were unable to find the body of Orlando Hugger Jr.
He was reported missing more than a year after he was last seen alive by people outside the home. His mother, Camille Lewis, says he was beaten to death in March 2021 by John Miles. She said she took part in moving the body several times, including going to a home improvement store to buy a metal trash can to burn the remains.
Lewis denied on the stand that prosecutors have offered anything for her testimony, in advance of her trial next year.
A lengthy search of the home, nearby storm drains, and park land did not turn up any evidence of the remains, but prosecutors say a cadaver dog indicated a body had been in the garage.
