News On 6 has been contacted by people worried about graffiti happening in downtown Tulsa. We looked into and learned it's not graffiti at all, but the beginning of a larger work of art.

It was quite a sight to see for those walking around downtown Tulsa.

"Yeah, I don't know if I really like that a lot, but it made me curious," said Tom Buoye. "I have no idea."

That was a common theme for those who stopped and stared.

A word search of spray-painted letters and shapes covered one side of a parking garage at 1st and Boston.

"Hmmm, well, it says something about Halloween, and 'Sorry TPD,' which I think is Tulsa Police Department," Buoye said.

For artist Bailee Green, the garage was her perfect canvas, and people like Tom Buoye had to know what she was doing.

"It's going to be two scissortail flycatchers and Indian paintbrushes," Green explained.

"Scissortail flycatchers and Indian paintbrushes? Oh my," said Buoye. "It's beautiful. I never would have imagined that's what it's going to be."

The finished product looks nothing like what was on the walls, but Bailee had quite a few steps before getting to that point.

"I've had lots of people stop and say 'Can you add my name up there?'" she said.

As people continued to take in the spectacle, Bailee explained the method to her madness.

"Those are my outlines, so I can see where they match, so I can actually get it drawn."

Each line she drew was strategically placed, all coming together for a bigger picture.

"This point starts at this divide sign and goes all the way down to the triangle so I can see where they meet, and that's how I get the actual tracing on," she said.

As she continued to draw each one, the wall would soon be home to "The Scissortail Symphony," a piece Bailee hoped would bring joy to her hometown.

"This is for you Tulsa, so enjoy."

Bailee was commissioned by Tulsa Creates Together to create the artwork. She said the mural would take a month to finish.
